Setting Windows Folder / File permissions in Plesk

Prerequisites

  • Plesk access to your Hosting
This Support article describes how to change permissions on folder / files for a Plesk based systems running on Windows. You may need to do this if you're writing temporary files or getting an "Access Denied" message when your website application goes to read or write to a file.

Note : While you can manually set the permissions via Windows, these changes may be overridden when you request Plesk to reset permissions. If the changes are set via Plesk, they will therefore remain if you ever need to migrate or upgrade the subscription.

Step : 1

Log into Plesk.

Step : 2

Click on Files Tab.

Step : 3

Navigate to the last directory you wish to change the permissions for. In this example, we're modifying the "Resources" directory.

Step : 4

On the right hand side of the folder click on the drop down then "Change Permissions" :

Step : 5

Click on the appropriate User from left e.g. (IWAM_plesk(default)) next adjust the permissions as required on the right > then Ok to save.

Step : 6

Once saved reload site to confirm your site or application is now working as expected.
